Do you have a plan for your beauty treatments during lockdown?

We are now into week 7 of the lockdown here in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Our Beauty Salon in Bronte has been closed throughout and many of our clients in neighbouring suburbs like Bondi, Randwick, Coogee and Clovelly are phoning for consultations with the primary concerns being what they can do at home to manage beauty treatments.

“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.” — Audre Lorde

Interesting words and I fully believe that caring for yourself FIRST will help everything that makes up your life. I walk every day from my home in Bronte, I try to do at least 1 hour outside each day, and we are blessed with such a beautiful coastline between Bondi, Clovelly, and Coogee so exercise is a great place to start. If you live inland a little at Randwick or Bondi Junction we also have the amazing Queens Park and Centennial Park on our doorstep as an option to the busy coastal pathways.

If you back up this exercise with good hydration and nutrition, you are halfway to where you need to be. Check out our range of Bestow Organic Skin Nutrition Products on our website for assistance with your skin nutrition.

Journal Feature Lockdown

Now it’s time to discuss what we can do from home to tide you over until we reopen our doors, and you can again receive Professional Beauty Treatments. Let’s take a look at the 3 areas I am being asked regularly for advice on from my clients while being stuck at home;

1. Hair Removal

Should I try and remove the hair myself?
Short answer NO, you should wait for your beauty therapist to do this for you. Here is why;

  • The waxing products you find available at most outlets are not high quality and using these products can cause all sorts of problems.
  • Waxing in the wrong direction of hair growth can lead to irritation of the skin, often breaking the hair and causing ingrown hairs which is definitely not ideal and not a good look.

It will be much more painful for you and more often than not the final look will not be what you are wanting… So please just cover up as best you can and wait to make an appointment in a our Beauty Salon as soon as that is possible.

2. At Home Facial

With our Eastern Suburbs Beauty Salons closed due to the lockdown restrictions we are all retreating to our own bathrooms for a stress-busting DIY facial treatment. It may not be as relaxing as lying with your eyes closed while a trained beauty facialist works their magic, but it is still so especially important to give your skin a boost. So let us share with you the six essential steps for an at home facial;

  • Double Cleanse
  • Steam
  • Exfoliate
  • Mask up (DIY or store bought)
  • Moisturise
  • Massage

Then simply enjoy that at home glow!!

3. Skin Tone

Now we find ourselves smack bang in the middle of winter, firmly stuck in our little part of paradise, whether that be in Bondi, Bronte, Randwick, Clovelly or Coogee. We are all longing for that Summer Glow back to brighten up our appearance.

So what can you do now you can’t have your regular spray tan?

We recommend Sunscape Self-Tanning Mousse ($44.95) or Sunscape Dry Tanning Body Oil ($34.95). Then to enhance the glow, try the Sunscape Illuminating Body Tint $39.95)
